It may seem like stating the obvious, but in order to sell something you have to have something to sell. I'm not talking about a product here as such, but a reason why a customer should choose your product or service over that of another supplier. That would be your unique selling point - the thing that makes your product stand out from the rest. It could be something as simple as offering more choices of colors than any other supplier, having a price that can't be matched, or offering a service that isn't available anywhere else. This is the thing that you most need to sell to potential customers and clients, because the likelihood is that whatever you are offering can be found elsewhere. Why, for instance, would a customer come all the way across town to buy from you when he can get a similar product just down the road from him? Well in order to make that happen you need to give the customer a reason to forego his closest supplier to come to you.
It makes a lot of sense therefore to try and identify your unique selling point before embarking on your branding promotion. Once you have discovered what it is, it may even give you some ideas about how you can incorporate that into your branding. You will be able to play to your strengths and formulate your content to highlight your unique selling point. Highlighting your unique selling point will also give your content depth and credibility. This enhanced content will serve you well and could also make your content more visible to search engines and social media.
There are many ways to get your content seen by people and consequently promote your unique selling position. You could use your expertise on your product to write guest blogs on sites that attract your target audience and have a reasonably high volume of traffic. Remember the target audience is far more important than what the website you are blogging on has to offer that audience.
I can't stress enough how important your website content is and ideally it should immediately engage an audience with media rich information that has been thoroughly researched. All this is designed so that you can get your unique selling point across to as many people as possible and to facilitate this you should promote it by utilizing social media websites and other targeted areas. There is merit in establishing yourself as a regular contributor or guest blogger on news and blog websites specific to the area you are operating in. It is also a good idea not to neglect the blog on your own website, where you can happily build up your rankings and promote your unique selling point through regular updates, with relevant posts offering comprehensive information about your brand and why it is so much better than the rest of the competition.
Promoting your unique selling point is highly dependent on you identifying what that unique selling point is in the first place. Sometimes it is glaringly obvious. Other times you will have to look that little bit harder to find it. Finally, if you literally can't identify what it is after several weeks trying to find it, you will probably have to invent it. No matter how you do eventually identify your unique selling point, once you have it you are armed with the vital ammunition you need to convince people to choose what you offer above everyone else's. It may even be the core of your branding campaign and could even determine your keyword strategy for you. What you need to do is make sure that you spread the word about it.
In summary, we can see that in order to succeed in business, your product or service needs to have something that makes it more desirable than other options that are available to your potential customers or clients. This will be the basis for your whole marketing campaign and needs to be fully established before you commence branding in order that you are able to choose the most appropriate keyword strategy. You then need to create first class and informative content for your website and promote your unique selling point through social media and guest blogging and contributing articles to news websites.
